The new Chairman speaks to BBC Surrey for the first time

Rosemary Johnson spoke to the media for the first time this morning and told BBC Surrey’s James Cannon that she wants to make the club ‘as successful as it can possibly be’.

At an important time for the club, Johnson took the reins on Thursday following Mike Smith’s resignation last weekend.

Johnson, a life-long fan of the club, sounded convincing and gave a sense of ‘no-nonsense’ in her answers.

She’ll be thrown straight into the deep end in the next couple of weeks in making sure Garry Hill is still at the club next season and setting his playing budget.

‘Garry Hill’s under contract with us for next season,’ said Johnson.

‘Last season I sponsored Garry’s kit, he’s a great friend of mine and I see no problem’s with that at all.

‘The club has the money to keep on running and I think any other Non-League club would be delighted to be able to say that.’

You can listen to the full interview with Johnson here. It starts at 1 hour 55 minutes.
