Centre-back Ismail Yakubu and midfielder Keiran Murtagh have renewed their contracts for the 2016/17 season.

Garry Hill has made his first moves in shaping his squad for next season and these two re-signings will certainly please the fans.

Yakubu, 31, missed nearly all of the last campaign with a cruciate ligament injury but in the games he played at the start of the season, he certainly impressed with his dominance and experience. Question marks will surround his fitness, having not played for so long, although he had started participating in training before the season ended and with a good pre-season in him, he will hopefully be ready.

While Yakubu impressed at the start of the season, so did Murtagh, until he suffered from Gilmour’s Groin and had to have surgery. Towards the end of the season, the 27-year-old’s sharpness began to return and, likewise with Yakubu, he will hopefully be fit and firing for the start of the season in August.
