Centre-back Joey Jones is the third player to re-sign for next season, with full-back Jake Caprice expected to sign next.

Jones, 22, joins defender Ismail Yakubu and midfielder Keiran Murtagh in signing on for the upcoming campaign.

Despite interest from Football League and National League clubs, Jones has stayed loyal to Woking, who permanently signed him in 2014 after he was released by Yeovil Town.

In a GetSurrey article, Director of Football Geoff Chapple said: “Football League clubs came sniffing, there’s no doubt about that.

“He is a big asset for our club and is one of three we have offered re-engagement terms too.

“He sat down and evaluated the situation and realised he is better off where he is.

“Sometimes you can be travelling an extra 50 or 60 miles for a few extra quid and you wonder whether it’s worth it.

“When players get a feel for Woking, they get to know the grass isn’t always greener, even though they might be able to get more money. It’s a special club, with special people, what I would call an old-fashioned club with plenty of tradition and good values. Players realise that.”

Chapple also confirmed that he expects right-back Caprice to be the fourth to re-sign once he returns from holiday.
