Goalkeeper Jake Cole turned down a new contract at Woking and has signed for Aldershot Town on a one-year deal.

The 30-year-old made 50 appearances for the Cards last season and was comfortably the second best player behind Swindon-bound John Goddard.

Cole made the most saves out of any Vanarama National League goalkeeper and picked up the Woking News & Mail’s Player of the Season award at the club’s End of Season Awards evening.

Garry Hill offered Cole a new contract albeit with reduced terms due to a 15 per cent cut in next season’s budget.

Shots manager Gary Waddock, who coached Cole at Queens Park Rangers academy, then moved to sign him.
