On Saturday evening it was announced that Mike Smith had resigned as Chairman and now just two days later, Commercial Manager Nicky Banger and long-standing Football Secretary Derek Powell have also left.

It was expected to be a busy and pivotal summer for the Cards but few would have seen changes, particularly of this magnitude, coming so quickly.

In a statement on the club website, majority shareholder Peter Jordan announced today that Banger had left the club due to a ‘restructure’.

The short statement read: ‘Following a restructure, Nicky Banger, Commercial Manager, has left Woking Football Club with immediate effect. We would like to thank Nicky for all his hard work and we wish him well in the future.’

Banger had been a driving force in the commercial department since joining last summer. The hospitality lounge had over 100 guests at each home game this season and many fans gave the experience very positive reviews. It seemed that amongst some difficult times off the pitch this season, the newly reinvigorated commercial department was a shining light.

For over 50 years Derek Powell has been of service to Woking and he too joins Smith and Banger out the door. Powell’s commitment and loyalty will be sorely missed by the club. A club statement was issued by Director of Football Geoff Chapple, you can read it here.
